MIDWEST TOUR READY FOR MADISON

Oregon, WI – Entries are steadily coming in for this Friday’s Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA Midwest Tour presented by Five Star Race Car Bodies, second visit of 2026 to Madison International Speedway in Oregon, WI.

The Stars and Cars return to Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile Oval’s traditional Friday night program for the 12th running of the Bytec Cheeseland Howie Lettow Classic 100.

Three previous winners have already filed an entry for this Friday night.

Casey Johnson, recent Slinger Nationals champion, four-time defending ASAMT champion, and three-time defending winner of the Lettow 100, will be a strong contender to be the first four-time winner.

Fresh off his Joe Shear Classic victory back in May at Madison, Austin Nason will be looking for his second Lettow checkered flag. Nason was the 2023 winner.

Paul Shafer Jr. already has a victory this season in the ASAMT after winning at Jefferson Speedway in May and followed it up with a thrilling win at Dells Raceway Park. This past weekend, he was the overall winner of the Frank Welch Memorial Twin 50’s at Grundy County Speedway.

Along with past winners, one past driver who had Howie Lettow as their crew chief will also be in attendance. Blake Brown was Lettow’s last driver he mentored before he passed away.

Some drivers looking for their first Lettow victory include Dells Icebreaker winner Luke Fenhaus, TUNDRA winner and former ASAMT Rookie of the Year Ty Fredrickson, and two-time ASAMT champion Gabe Sommers, and three-time ASAMT winner Justin Mondeik.

There is also a list of drivers not only looking for their first Lettow victory, but their first win in the Midwest Tour. Keep an eye on Levon Van Der Geest, Nick Egan, Mitch Haver, Billy Mohn, Cody Vanderloop, Andy Jones, Joseph Scholze, Bryce Miller, Riley Stenjem, Penn Sauter, Brent Edmunds, Chad Butz, and Scotty Tomasik.

Officials are still collecting entries which will provide a great field this Friday night.
The Midwest Truck Series will also be in action.

Pit gates open on July 24th at 1:00 p.m. with grandstands opening at 4:00 p.m. Practice begins at 4:00 with qualifying at 6:15 with racing at 7:30.

Adult tickets are $25 ($20 in advance) / Seniors 62+ and Heroes $22 ($18 in advance), Students 12-17 $15 / Kids 6-11 $5 / Five and under Free. A “Family” ticket good for up to two adults and four students or kids is just $50.

Howie Lettow was a highly respected crew chief who led eight different drivers to rookie of the year honors in the American Speed Association. Best known of that group is six-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson. Other drivers included Pat Schauer, Scott Hansen, Ken Lund, David Stremme, Ted Musgrave, Steve Holzhausen, Steve Carlson, and Ricky Johnson. Lettow won an ASA championship in 1996 as crew chief for Tony Raines.

He also won three straight championships from 2005-2007 in the ASA Late Model Challenge Series with Stephen Leicht, Kelly Bires, and Travis Dassow behind the wheel.
Lettow passed away in 2010 at the age of 62 following a battle with cancer.
