BROWN VICTORIOUS AT SLINGER

SLINGER, WISCONSIN – It’s been a special year so far for Carson Brown (New London, NC) and his Anthony Campi Racing efforts in the ASA STARS National Tour. With victories in his first three races, he knew a win at Slinger Speedway in the Badger State 325 presented by Appalachian Sucker Punch was going to be challenging.

When the Checkered Flag dropped, Brown bested one of the best at Slinger, Ty Majeski, who is a four-time Slinger Nationals winner. Brown held off countless charges from the Seymour, Wisconsin driver in the final 25 laps.

The victory was the third of the season for Brown, who also finished second in the lone race he didn’t take the checkered flag.

Majeski started the day on top by winning the Hamke Race Cars Pole Award in qualifying. It was the second-straight time Majeski has won the award at Slinger in an ASA STARS event. He was hoping he would have a repeat performance of his last pole in the series, where he won the Winchester 400 from the top spot.

Majeski led the first 165 laps, including winning the first segment, before fellow Wisconsin driver Derek Kraus (Stratford, WI) got out front after a restart. Kraus led for 30 laps before Carson Brown took the lead right before the end of the second segment.

Jade Avedisian (Clovis, CA) stayed out to play the strategy game, and she inherited the lead for half a dozen laps before Brown reclaimed the top spot.

From there it was a flag-to-flag green run in the final 125 laps for Brown to chase the flag. Majeski was sixth with 100 laps to go, made the charge, and got to second on lap 289. He stalked Brown and had a couple of looks under him, but made it clear in the post-race he wasn’t going to move him for the win.

While Brown took the win, Majeski was second, and Stephen Nasse (Pinellas Park, FL) was third for the second year in a row in the ASA event at Slinger. Derek Kraus settled for fourth, and Kyle Steckly (Milverton,ON) posted a third-consecutive top five finish.

It will be a short break for the STARS of the ASA STARS National Tour as they will be back in action this Tuesday at Madison International Speedway for the Capital 200 Presented by Appalachian Sucker Punch.
