The second race of the 2026 ASA Midwest Tour season comes up on Sunday with a visit to Madison Int’l Speedway for the Joe Shear Classic.
A stellar field of super late model drivers have entered the weekend’s event at the half-mile Wisconsin oval to compete in the race that is a tribute to the long-time Midwest racing great.
Three-time race winner and the driver who was victorious in last week’s series opening race at Slinger Super Speedway Ty Majeski headlines the entries for the $15,000 to win 200-lap race. Majeski is a full-time competitor on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series who has a deep short track resume that includes a five-time Midwest Tour Champion, five-time Oktoberfest Race Weekend Champion, four-time Slinger Nationals winner, two-time Howie Lettow Memorial winner, and a six-time Rattler 250 winner.
Defending series champion and race winner Casey Johnson returns for another shot at Victory Lane. Johnson is a Four-time Midwest Tour Champion and has been the driver to beat at MIS in recent years. Since 2021 he’s won the Joe Shear Classic twice and the Howie Lettow Memorial three times.
The Joe Shear Classic presented by Toyota is set for Sunday May 3rd. Race fans that purchase Madison International Speedway tickets in advance for this Sunday’s Joe Shear Classic 200 presented by Toyota will be granted pit area access from 9-11am on race day. Spectator gates open at 10:30am while practice for the Midwest Tour and Midwest Trucks gets underway at 11:30am with qualifying at 12:45pm and the first race at 2pm.
